Ramon Casamajó

QBRNTHSS

QBRNTHSS (pronounced “quebrantahuesos”, meaning “bearded vulture” in Spanish) is the alias that Ramon Casamajó, musician and educator, uses for his solo works focused on electronics and algorythmic composition. In his performances he uses live coding (a performative practice of real-time creation by writing source code) and acoustic and electronic instruments in search of a personal space between ambient, contemporary composition and experimental music. Throughout his live sets, he combines synthesized sounds and samples with those generated by himself (trumpet, processed contact microphone, …) seeking the tension between rhythm and abstraction, melody and noise, synthetic and analog.

Refugi de Fauna Salvatge

Refugi de Fauna Salvatge are an electronic music duo consisting of Ramon Casamajó and Ivó Valdivielso, who joined forces in 2024 to investigate new possibilities in the sonic territory. Their approach to music is heavily inspired by wildlife and patterns in nature. Field recordings, analog pulses and digital rhythms are initially hunted in the jungle of sound, then transformed into wild musical structures and finally tamed into crushed whispers. Trumpet melodies and synthesizer phrases are captured and processed by algorithms in infinite feedback loops.

Turing Tarpit

Turing Tarpit is an electronic, noisy and improvisational musical project. The duo formed by Ferran Gavín (electric guitar and effects) and Ramon Casamajó (trumpet, effects and electronics), proposes the creation of soundscapes and pieces developed live, either from the absolute void, or using starting points or elements of support created and prepared in advance.

A Turing Tarpit is any programming language that is functional and correct (Turing complete), but at the same time difficult to learn and use and with little or no practical sense. Some are created to test the design limits of programming languages, as a proof of concept, or as a joke. Usability is rarely a goal for the designers of these types of languages, often quite the opposite.
