QBRNTHSS live at Arts Santa Mònica
2025-01-29

A new live set from QBRNTHSS played last November was released. It was a transitional one because I played some new stuff for the first time and tried out new gear. And this time I don’t use trumpet, which will be part of the new live set for sure. The new QBRNTHSS live set is actually still evolving. But anyway, I like the mood and the final result, so I decided to publish it.
And I thought it would be a great idea to do it as part of this new initiative by Tim Colishaw which recently emerged from online conversations in the TOPLAP Barcelona Telegram group: NoIA Records . An online record label for artists with a critical or confrontational attitude toward AI. The website even includes technology to prevent its content from being scraped by AI bots. NoIA stands for ‘No IA’ (No AI) but also means ’noia,’ which means ‘young woman’ in Catalan.
This was my setup for the gig:
- Laptop running Manjaro Linux
- Faderfox UC4 MIDI controller
- Elektron Model Cycles
- Boss DD-7 digital delay (on the output of the Model Cycles)
- SuperCollider (using some synths directly from SC)
- Tidal Cycles (sending MIDI to the Model Cycles, sequencing a few samples and SC synths)
- Ardour (used only for mixing and volume control)
The set was part of the final Algorave culminating an amazing week-long residency of TOPLAP Barcelona at Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica.
You can stream and download it for free from the NoIA website: QBRNTHSS - Live at Arts Santa Mònica
